She/Her
Mia Warren is a graduate-level intern currently pursuing her Master of Social Work (MSW) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees at the University of Michigan, with a focus on Interpersonal Practice and Health Behavior and Health Equity. Her academic and professional interests center on trauma, relationships, identity, sexual well-being, self-advocacy, and empowerment.
Before beginning her graduate studies at the University of Michigan, Mia gained extensive experience in community education, advocacy, and research related to sexual health, sexual violence, sex work, HIV access, and communicating health information to the public. Through her previous work as a student leader, researcher, and advocate, Mia developed experience listening to diverse perspectives, navigating complex systems, and supporting individuals in accessing resources and information. She has also supported survivors of sexual violence and received training in trauma-informed survivor support, grounding strategies, crisis management, and survivor-centered empowerment. These experiences have strengthened her interest in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, survivors, young adults, and others navigating stigma or barriers to care, while deepening her commitment to trauma-informed practice.
Mia approaches her work with compassion and a commitment to understanding each person's experiences and needs and prioritizes creating accessible, affirming spaces where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered. As she continues her social work training, she is interested in developing her skills in assessment, counseling, and trauma-informed practice while learning how to best support clients in ways that honor their individual goals, identities, relationships, and overall well-being.
